MEET DANNY, THE FOUNDER OF COMPASS COACHING

Danny is an executive coach having qualified with a distinction from Henley Business School. He works with individuals and teams to achieve their goals by deepening understanding, improving performance and delivering behavioural change.

He has 20 years’ experience working to support positive personal change. In 2008, he co-founded the charity CatZero to work with young people on the NEETS register (Not in Education Employment or Training) in Hull.  The charity now works across the Humber region supporting long term unemployed, care leavers, lone parents, ex-military as well as young people moving nearly 70% into positive outcomes.

As part of his role as Director of Sailing, Danny works closely with the charity’s partner organisations and has run over 100 corporate development days out on the water. Partners include Akzo Nobel, Arco, William Jackson Food Group, KCOM and BEAL Homes.

Prior to embarking on a career in sailing, he had five years in the City, including three and half years at a sports management agency he set up with Duncan Goodhew MBE.

At the heart of Danny’s coaching philosophy is the belief that everyone has their own inner wisdom and are born with unlimited potential. He is passionate about positive personal change and believes that the insight needs to come from the client themselves for the change to be long-lasting and effective.

As a coach, Danny builds trust through an ongoing partnership with his clients and works with them to identify their own limiting beliefs and assumptions. This is achieved through a range of tools and techniques depending on the clients’ requirements and the current situation. The coaching supports clients to develop their awareness and thinking so they can find their own solutions and positive outcomes.

Sailing Passion

Embarked on a professional sailing career in 1999, and delved into the transformational effects of sail training with the Ocean Youth Trust. Skippered in two Clipper Round the World Yacht races, where invaluable experience was gained in building teams, that can work and support each other in the most extreme conditions.

CatZero Foundation

Co-founded in 2009, this charity started as a youth development programme in Hull, focusing on sailing. Today, it supports various groups across the Humber region, from the long-term unemployed to young people, testament to Danny’s enduring commitment to change and growth.

Mindful Mastery

Recognising the synergy of a healthy body and mind, Danny not only took on physical challenges, from marathons to cycling feats but also became a qualified mindfulness teacher, introducing this transformative practice to many.
